STATEMENT REGARDING TONIGHT'S FIRE IN PORTONOVA MARINA

Today, at approximately 18:00, a fire broke out on a vessel anchored at Portonovi Marina. Smoke was detected by dockmasters, who promptly activated emergency protocols. The vessel’s crew was alerted, and the Portonovi Safety and Security Department immediately informed the Herceg Novi Firefighter Unit and Police, who responded without delay.

The Herceg Novi Police managed crowd control and supported the operation, while the firefighting units worked to extinguish the fire. Despite their efforts, the fire could not be contained on-site. However, due to the swift action of the Portonovi team in moving the affected vessel away from other boats, no additional vessels sustained any damage. By 19:50, the damaged vessel was safely removed from the marina by towing experts, who continued managing the fire in an uninhabited area.

Environmental protection measures were implemented immediately to prevent any potential ecological impact. The vessel was surrounded with oil booms, and dispenser cloths and specialized chemicals were used to neutralize any possible spills. As of now, no ecological damage has been reported.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Herceg Novi Police and other relevant authorities. Portonovi Marina is fully cooperating with the investigation and will await the findings before issuing further statements.

Portonovi Marina would like to thank everyone who helped extinguish the fire, especially the crew of the vessel Jovana from Porto Montenegro, for their quick and collegial support.
