Portonovi Marina: Operational Excellence and Environmental Responsibility
Portonovi Marina continues to operate at a high level of activity throughout the current season, welcoming both long-term berth holders and visiting yachts. Alongside daily operational demands, the marina remains focused on maintaining internationally recognized standards, with a particular emphasis on environmental responsibility.
The marina holds key certifications from The Yacht Harbour Association (TYHA), including Platinum 5 Gold Anchor, Superyacht Ready Marina and International Clean Marina. These accreditations confirm compliance with strict criteria related to infrastructure, operational readiness, service delivery, and environmental management, positioning Portonovi Marina among a select group of professionally certified marinas worldwide.
Environmental practices at Portonovi Marina are integrated into everyday operations rather than treated as standalone initiatives. Current measures include solar-powered pontoon and berth lighting to reduce reliance on conventional electricity, as well as sea bins installed throughout the marina to capture floating debris and prevent marine pollution. Comprehensive waste management protocols are applied across all operational areas, ensuring consistent handling of both marina-generated and vessel-related waste.
Yacht owners and crews are supported by dedicated infrastructure designed to protect water quality. A filtered vacuum system allows for the free discharge of black and gray water tanks, while the use of biodegradable and environmentally friendly products for vessel washing within the marina is mandatory. These measures are monitored as part of standard operational procedures to ensure consistent application.
In addition to on-site practices, Portonovi Marina organizes annual underwater clean-up dives in cooperation with the local community. These activities focus on removing marine debris from the seabed and contribute to maintaining underwater conditions within the marina area.
Building on its existing certifications, the marina is currently preparing for the certification process with Bureau Veritas for ISO 9001 (Quality Management System) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System). These standards will further formalize quality control and environmental management processes already in place.
Through structured procedures, verified standards, and clearly defined environmental practices, Portonovi Marina continues to demonstrate that operational excellence and environmental responsibility are integral components of professional marina management.
