"Generally speaking, securing guests and their property is always the biggest security challenge in tourism. When it comes to Portonovi, the biggest challenge we've faced is protecting guests' privacy due to the massive use of drones. Even though their use contributes to the promotion and recording of beautiful memories, owners often forget that the privacy of guests and other tourists is equally important," said Vladimir Bošković, Safety and Security Director at Portonovi.

"Thanks to our dedication and commitment to creating a favorable security environment, we have had no recorded cases of physical threats to the safety of guests and owners since opening in 2019. We pay the most attention to the prevention of property crimes because theft is the most unpleasant experience for guests. Property crimes, when they happen, leave a negative impact on the brand and image of not only the hotel but the entire destination."

Being proactive is the key strategy Portonovi uses in the security system.

"By applying primarily organizational measures, then physical and technical protection measures, we have created a security system that can guarantee the safety of all persons staying in Portonovi. The functioning of the resort is hard to imagine without an operations center operating 24/7, from which constant monitoring is carried out and timely response to any suspicious situation," explained Bošković.

Training and preparations for emergencies are standard at Portonovi. "Security personnel undergo training for the application of powers that prevent reactions in incident situations. We actively participate in training security guards so that this segment of operations is also at a high level and corresponds to a five-star destination."

Portonovi has great management support when it comes to security. "I consider myself privileged because the security sector has great management support. Even in the design phase, we had a clear concept of what the security system should look like. Security is one of the key factors for any individual's stay or investment."

Cooperation with local security centers is essential for Portonovi. "We are strategically committed to cooperation with all relevant security services in Montenegro. From the very beginning, we have had the unconditional support of the Herceg Novi Security Department, which is key to our success."

Informing guests about security procedures is mandatory upon arrival in Portonovi. "Upon arrival (check-in), guests receive information that is essential for their safe stay, but they can also get detailed information through applications available on TV devices in our apartments."

Continuous improvement of security measures is imperative for Portonovi. "Security measures achieve their effect if they are applied continuously and if they are constantly checked or challenged. The analysis of all the events from 2023 showed us the system's strength but also revealed possible areas of progress that we are currently actively working on," Bošković pointed out.
