EST 105 Regatta Becoming Portonovi Tradition

More than 25 vessels took part in the EST 105 Regatta, connecting Bari and Herceg Novi, this year hosted by Portonovi. The Director of Portonovi Marina, Nikola Banović, said that this is the second year of their gathering with friends from Italy. He stated that, apart from the competitive part, they had another regatta that was more of a presentation, and local sailors could also participate.

"This year, the Italians came in larger numbers than last year. They are very happy with the hospitality in Portonovi. We will try to make this into a tradition, since this regatta has been organized for more than 15 years," said Banović. He added that he is very happy that the regatta was held in Portonovi again.

"In addition to the great satisfaction of the participants, we were hoping for good results and a good wind. In this way, the participants were lucky from Italy to here, and the regatta took place in the best possible order," said Banović.

He also said that Portonovi Marina is ready for the upcoming tourist season, with all 238 berths.

According to him, there is great interest in the berths of all categories this year. "The occupancy of the marina is increasing every day. We have already sold a lot of berths so that in some categories, we no longer have free berths," said Banović.

He announced that in two weeks, from June 9 to 11, Portonovi Regatta "Boka Islands" will be held. "The local sailors are looking forward to it. Every year we gather more than forty vessels from Montenegro. Of course, there are also international competitors," added Banović.

"That is our usual two-day gathering. On the first day, we sail to Mamula Island, and on the second to the islands of Tivat and Perast," explained Banović.

One of the regatta participants, Vito Pellegrino, said that this year’s EST 105 Regatta was held in a pleasant atmosphere.

“We come to Boka Bay and Herceg Novi from Italy. This is our second year of staying in Portonovi. The organization is very good,” said Pellegrino.

As he said, he believes in the future organization of EST 105 Regatta because it represents the beginning of summer for all sailors.
